Project Description

Referred to as The Wod Father our owner and coach has been consistently ranked #1 in NZ and top 100 in the world in his Masters division.

After nearly 20 years in the fitness industry as a gym instructor and personal trainer, I discovered CrossFit in late 2009 and began my journey of elite strength and conditioning eventually opening the doors to CrossFit Newmarket in October 2010.

Having spend most of his adult life in gyms training and coaching athletes of all levels, Jason discovered CrossFit shortly after this amazing strength and conditioning system made its way to NZ back in 2009.

After gaining his Bachelors degree in Environmental Economics in the late 90s it was back to the gym where he started “Cross-Trainers NZ”, a small PT business teaching clients strength training, yoga, boxing, triathlon and tennis.

In short, ” Jack of all trades, Master of None ”… Nick-named the ‘Punisher’ on account of the brutality he inflicted on all of his eight members, the dripping Red Skull evolved into the 130 strong tribe of masochists that visit CFN almost daily.

With no other obvious skills other than coaching movement, researching movement, and practising movement Jason felt his life’s calling was raising a family and running a gym where his family and friends could visit daily, great music is played and tough but fair workouts featured to ready us all for the life that can often be cruel and unforgiving.

8 years later CrossFit Newmarket is still his happy place where the original core values of CrossFit espoused by founder Greg Glassman still exist : “To get your buddies over, have a decent workout , sweat, play loud music and have a few beers and a laugh when you’re done”.
